Hiroshi’s Fab Figurines

I recently came across a good thread started by Hiroshi Yoshii on the ZBrushCentral forum (Link) showing some nice images of his toy figurines going from 3D models to RP parts to molded and finished products. This is a nice companion to my earlier post (reLink) on using rapid prototyping technology to generate simple molds and crank out parts in limited batches.

Only question I have is: where do these toys live?

  1. God I wonder how much is it costing him? I hope each toy is not in the region of $50 bucks each to cover all the low cost product runs. I AM interested in where they live as well.

I suspect they’re costing him significantly more than $50 a pop. There’s a lot of time going into those things and there don’t seem to be very many of them.

I don’t know their prices, but given his reputation, I’d venture these are being sold as limited edition “art toys”; perhaps thousands of dollars a piece. In which case, he might be making a slight profit.

Will have to find out what those sell for.

In case you misunderstood, I’m not literally talking about place. I’m talking about narrative.

What world do these toys inhabit? What’s their story? And will they have their own world (like Neopets) or will they exist inside another?
