Coca-Cola Releases Trademark To Second Life Merchants?

Now here’s an interesting development. According to Second Life resident Vint Falken in a post today (Link – may be dead), the SL Exchange website claims that Coca-Cola is releasing their trademark for use by merchants inside Second Life.

Standards of Avatar Portability

Anyone who’s been keeping up with comments here and over on The Meshverse Journal will appreciate this bit of additional information posted on the blog of Amazon’s Jeff Barr (Link):

From what he [Yoz Linden] said, it sounds like Linden will continue to host the presence, search, and currency/payment services (or at least the default, global instances). As part of this effort they are apparently paying attention to emerging standards for cross-world portabilty of avatars.

Dassault Wants “to do the 3D Flickr” {*Update*}

French software company Dassault Systemes launched on Tuesday 3DVIA, a platform that will enable consumer and professional users to access three-dimensional services online.

The 3D services, the first of which will be accessible on the 3dvia.com site in autumn, will allow users in online communities to create objects in 3D, upload and share them.

“We want to do the 3D Flickr,” he told Reuters, referring to the popular online photo-sharing site owned by Yahoo Inc.
