Terra Nova, Grimwell and IGE

Via Terra Nova, I’ve read Part 3 of There’s Gold In Them Thar Pixels! Games & The Law by CmdrSlack and it’s sufficiently on target that I need to go and read the first two installments. Of particular interest was the breakdown of Linden Labs’ Terms of Service and EULA contracts. When I joined the Second Life virtual community I had similar thoughts running through my mind as I waded through the verbage (I read all those legal things religiously). And having been a part of Second Life for a couple months, many of the other issues raised in the Grimwell piece are now known to me (especially after one prominent SLer recently posted concerns over “ownership” on their forums). If you’ve any interest in creator rights, it’s worth checking out.

And also check out some of the other Terra Nova entries if you’re new to all this. The previous entry “The Unsinkable IGE?” is generating quite a few reader comments and is a nice companion piece to the Grimwell analysis.
