It&#8217;s from a company called Polymer Vision, &#8220;the rollable display company&#8221; and a division of Philips according to what I just <a href=\"http:\/\/news.com.com\/Philips+unit+to+launch+rollable-screen+handheld\/2100-1041_3-6157513.html?tag=nefd.top\">read on C|Net (Link)<\/a>. I first saw this device yesterday on the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.openthefuture.com\/2007\/02\/things_that_make_me_happy.html\">Open the Future blog (Link)<\/a> but didn&#8217;t understand how it actually worked; seemed a little boxy and I was expecting something with a cylindrical form at least <em>somewhere<\/em> in the design. Now that I&#8217;ve seen the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.polymervision.nl\/ProductsApplications\/Readius\/Index.html\">animation on their site (Link)<\/a>, I&#8217;m less impressed. When someone says &#8220;rollable&#8221;, I want <em>rollable<\/em>. This is an unfolding, flexible display. Still cool, but they&#8217;ve made it <em>less<\/em> cool and disappointed me by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.secretlair.com\/index.php?\/clickableculture\/entry\/brand_advice_in_second_life\/#4610\">raising expectation and not delivering on the promise<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Oh well.
