I&#8217;ll confess my own affection for the stuff, but I&#8217;ve had an interest in such things since reading <a href=\"http:\/\/www.kirjasto.sci.fi\/verne.htm\">Jules Verne<\/a> stories in grade school.<!--more--> On the other hand, I have to wonder how much of today&#8217;s popularity is driven by what I assume to be the publics&#8217; general sense of being overwhelmed by an avalanche of modern technology. Things used to be so much simpler, didn&#8217;t they?<\/p>\n<p>The watch above, one of a collection of similar pieces <a href=\"http:\/\/www.eager-beavers.net\/suekichi2\/products\/shouhin_guide.cgi?temp=TMP0\">you can view online (Link)<\/a>, may be complex in form but it&#8217;s a <em>visible<\/em> complexity and thus, probably to most people, a bit more open and friendly; not like technology that hides inside stuff so we can&#8217;t see it with our own eyes.
