For the few of you who recall my earlier mention of the webisodic video series, Afterworld<\/em> (reLink<\/a>), it’s getting some attention today as a result of a deal made with MySpace to syndicate the series. From an article over on the LA Times (Link)<\/a>:<\/p>\n

“What we’re trying to do is create a unique form of entertainment as well as an original business model,” said Stan Rogow, former executive producer of Disney Channel’s hit show “Lizzie McGuire” and one of the principals in Electric Farm Entertainment.

\n“The idea was to create a new hybrid medium for entertainment using these different forms of technology so that fans can get their daily snack of entertainment when and where they want,” Friedman said.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

It’s a decent write-up with plenty more tidbits. Just ignore the non-sensical “photo-realistic” comment. As I mentioned earlier, Afterworld<\/em> is being created using some very common software packages. It’s no where near looking as photorealistic as today’s next gen videogames.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Mashable also carried a mention of it (Link)<\/a>. And that piece refers to paidContent.org (Link)<\/a>… which sounds a lot like a compressed and lossy version of the LA Times article (including using the aforementioned “photo-real” comment).<\/p>\n

Oh-kay.<\/p>\n

So maybe there’s only one real<\/em> story. Somewhere. It’s still interesting news and the LA Time’s piece is still worth checking out.<\/p>\n

The biggest take away for me is the budget: $3 million. That sounds like a lot of money from what I’ve seen. But it does get me thinking…<\/p>\n

{p.s. For anyone who hasn’t seen “The Guild” webisodes (Link)<\/a>, I expect they’ll be getting some attention. Funny stuff.}<\/p>\n
