{"id":666,"date":"2006-02-13T15:53:08","date_gmt":"2006-02-13T20:53:08","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.rebang.com\/?p=666"},"modified":"2006-02-15T23:22:43","modified_gmt":"2006-02-16T04:22:43","slug":"inelegant-electric","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.rebang.com\/?p=666","title":{"rendered":"(In)Elegant Electric"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"pic\/gothlolitribeJapan.jpg\" alt=\"gothlolitribeJapan\" hspace=\"40\" \/><\/p>\n<p>After seeing little about which to post regarding either New York Fashion Week or the <a href=\"http:\/\/seamless.sigtronica.org\/\" target=\"blank\">Seamless<\/a> show at MIT earlier this month, I did find something interesting over on WMMNA (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.we-make-money-not-art.com\/archives\/008018.php\" target=\"blank\">Link<\/a>). It&#8217;s an intriquing entry concerning niche fashion in Japan and influence on\/reflection of the traditional mainstream culture. At the end of the entry a simple question is posed: will wearable electronics be adopted by one of the mentioned urban &#8220;tribes&#8221; as part of some fashion statement and will any of them go so far as to adopt implants? There&#8217;s also, I believe, an implied question about how those developments reflect the changing values in their society.<\/p>\n<p>All interesting stuff, but it appears as if the <em>A-boys<\/em> have to catch up to a couple of working guys in Ohio who have already gone the implant route (<a href=\"http:\/\/news.ft.com\/cms\/s\/ec414700-9bf4-11da-8baa-0000779e2340.html\" target=\"blank\">Link<\/a>).
