Forbes: Good at Looking Bad

Most people are aware of the dramatic changes occurring in the news and print media industries, where “blog” is a special kind of four-letter word. Gone are the days when people trusted journalists; as much their own fault as anyone else’s as far as I’m concerned. And if there is one magazine that’s proving itself especially good at looking bad, for me it has to be Forbes.

Maybe some of us just expect more from that particular magazine. Or maybe between the wince-inducing coverage of virtual worlds (reLink) and their current ho-hum piece on Industrial Design trends (Link), I just seem to find them in my crosshairs more than most.

The Core77 site, which brought the current article to my attention (Link), gives you an idea of how sad the article is:

So Forbes didn’t exactly miss the boat. Regarding its new slideshow feature, “10 Industrial Design Trends You Can’t Ignore,” we’ll admit that you really “can’t” ignore these “trends” since they’ve been around for ages already.

Not terribly accurate but not exactly terrible either. To be fair, it’s a somewhat relevant yet slow-pokey peek into the world of ID for the average Joe. C’mon Forbes, you can do better than that.

I’m not sure they can do better.
